Roberto Reale speaks with Dr. Gene Akers, director of the Center for Advanced Technologies, about technology in government

Roberto Reale, an advisor to the governor of the province of Buenos Aires, spent four days of a three-week U.S. trip in Alabama to learn how technology fosters transparency, integrity and accountability of government officials.

Among his many stops in the capitol city, Reale visited with AUM’s Center for Advanced Technology. Center staff presented an overview of the center’s activity, focusing on e-government and Alabama’s innovative approaches to government transparency and accountability through technology. Reale gained much insight into some of his program objectives, particularly how technology has improved global communication and how technology and electronic methods help participation in the democratic process at the grassroot level.

Reale came to the U.S. via the State Department’s    International Visitor Leadership Program. In addition to his current advising post, he has served as a vice presidential advisor, coordinator of the Institutional Strengthening Program of the National Senate and coordinating secretary at the Parliamentary Secretariat of the National Senate. Reale earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires and has published numerous articles, papers and books on politics and democracy.
